The i30 usheres in a new era of Hyundai model names. This is the first model in which Hyundai used a combination of letters and numbers in its name. In this way, Hyundai emphasizes the connection between modern technology and the core values of Hyundai Corporation. The letter "i" reveals Hyundai's core values: innovation, intelligence, integration. This is a small family car designed in Hyundai’s European division in Germany. The car shares its mechanical components with the Kia cee’d, but from the outside, these cars are vastly different. The i30 is manufactured with five-door hatchback or station wagon bodies with three petrol and two diesel engines with manual or automatic transmissions. The i30 has replaced the budget Hyundai Accent and the larger Hyundai Elantra models and now the Hyundai model range stands a step lower than the Sonata model. In Australia, the Hyundai i30 won the CARSGuide 2007 Car of the Year title, and the 1.6L CRDi model became the cheapest diesel car in Australia.
