The Hyundai Veracruz or ix55 is a mid-size SUV and is larger than a compact Santa Fe SUV. The Veracruz (ix55) is now the largest SUV in Hyundai until the Portico. In part, the Veracruz (ix55) model replaced the Terracan SUV with a truck-type frame. The Veracruz (ix55) is larger than the Honda Pilot and has a larger luggage compartment than the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV. The Veracruz (ix55) has a large 3.8 L 263 hp (196 kW) V6 engine. This model, like the Azera and Genesis models, is an obvious attempt by Hyundai to enter the luxury car market, which has long been dominated by brands such as Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln, Infiniti and Acura.
