The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV along with the Patriot considered a lower class than the Jeep Wrangler and is one of the first Jeep crossovers. The Compass and Patriot are both built on the Daimler-Chrysler / Mitsubishi GS platform. However, different marketing is given to these vehicles: The Patriot is a traditional 4-door Jeep SUV, while the Compass is marketed as a luxury sporty crossover with a hatchback body similar to the Toyota Matrix. The car has an electronically controlled all-wheel drive with variable torque at different speeds: 40 km / h is the same and over 105 km / h the power distribution becomes different. However, the standard version of the Compass only has a front-wheel drive system, the first of its kind in Jeep history.
