The Lexus GX 470 is a mid-size luxury sporty SUV sold in the North American markets. It is built on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado platform, which is also used by the 4Runner and FJ Cruiser. The GX Lexus range stands between the crossover RX and the high-end sedan LX. The Lexus GX combines the features of a true SUV and a passenger car. The car has a welded steel body, an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission and a reinforced four-wheel drive system. The GX’s quality interior can accommodate up to eight passengers with three rows of seats, although the third row is quite cramped. The Lexus GX has won various awards, including the title of Best SUV of 2003 and 2004 (according to 4x4 Magazine).
