Lexus IS, 2005 - 2013
4.5512Rating4.52% better than average rating of competitors (4.3)Review number: 12 RecommendsYes 0% No 100%
The new IS model has become a completely new project. This time, the unpopular wagon body is no longer produced, but an all-wheel drive system has been introduced. The new IS is the second Lexus model to feature the so-called L-finesse design style. It features a dynamic style with intertwined subtle lines and a coupe profile, the first of which was the Lexus GS. Compared to the first generation, the interior of the IS model is simpler, a typical Lexus interior with luxury accents. The most powerful special version of the IS F even has a 5.0 L V8 engine with 416 hp (310 kW) / 6600 rpm and 503 Nm / 5200 rpm of torque, dynamics from 0-100 km / h in 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 270 km / h . It is a serious competitor to German luxury compact sedans such as the BMW M3. While testing, it is noted that Lexus still cannot match BMW’s driving and road performance. The second-generation IS was a huge success in all markets, with sales up 332% in 2006. In the U.S. market, it has become one of the top ten most sought-after luxury cars and the most popular Lexus model.
