Until recently, the unveiled Lexus GS caught the eye with its “arrogant” look, but the new IS extends these boundaries much further. On the new front of the IS model, we see the massive front grille seen in the GS version - this has already been seen. However, we have never seen such headlights anywhere - they consist of two "trimmed" parts and when the eye gets used to this strange image, it becomes very attractive and exclusive. At dusk, the shapes of these "arrows" become apparent when the passing beam lights up. At the rear, a highlighted line runs from the rear "swept" headlights, crossing the rear wheel and entering the sill. Maybe how much "racing" or chaotic looks? Perhaps, however, the overall picture remained fairly proportionate and consistent. Obviously, such an exclusive car design will be praised by some and criticized by others. On the other hand, even with such a radical design, the IS did not stray very far from its second-generation predecessor and maintained commendable continuity. Compared to the previous model, the new IS has become 80 mm longer, the wheelbase has increased by 70 mm, increasing the cabin space, which is what the older model lacked. There are significant design changes in the interior. Here you can see the engine start button, which is raised much higher and is no longer obstructed by the steering wheel, the air conditioner is controlled by electrostatic buttons that are just a touch away (who does not like the temperature can also be adjusted by pressing the arrows). The design of the instrument panel itself does not look very radical, but it is significantly different from its predecessor. The manufacturer has used better and higher quality materials, passengers are delighted by the same great - Mark Levinson sound system. The front seats are mounted a little lower, the steering wheel is turned at a more comfortable angle. The seats themselves, traditionally, are not only heated but also ventilated. Extremely large at 480 liters, but the plus is that the hybrid version has just 30 liters less luggage space and the rear seats are unlike the predecessor, and the other interesting thing is that the engine's sound is reproduced on the car's adjustable speakers. If you want to drive a car like this, you just want to enjoy the impeccable silence of the cabin.You will find few disadvantages here - a bit annoying is the extremely precise and convenient multimedia control mechanism, and the screen itself may have been bigger. The IS 250 is equipped with petrol V6 type 208 hp copper and the IS 300h with a 2.5-liter petrol engine and electric motor that generates a total of 221 hp. This is the first model in the IS series with a hybrid drive. By the way, there are no plans to produce diesel versions - the Japanese see only hybrid systems as economical engines. Unfortunately, the pleasure of enjoying the power is somewhat ruined by the lazy CVT gearbox. On the road, the car behaves a little differently and this is not very typical of the Lexus brand - the steering mechanism works sharper and more precisely, the car stays more stable on the road, the body has almost no unwanted tilt. What we have is an almost perfect, extremely comfortable car full of various technological innovations. Wondering what the new and radical manufacturer will offer the next generation Lexus IS?
