In 2004, Maserati began production of the Pininfarina-designed Quattroporte model, which is equipped with the same 4.2-liter engine as the Coupé, Spyder and the new GranTurismo models, but has a slightly higher power output of 400 hp (298 kW). With more weight than the Coupé or Spyder models, the Quattroporte accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds and has a top speed of 269 km / h. This car continues Maserati’s long tradition of making luxury sedans. The Quattroporte has a very good weight distribution - 47% of the weight goes to the front and 53% to the rear, so the large sedan is perfectly manageable. This weight distribution is achieved by pushing the engine back behind the front axle and mounting the gearbox to the rear axle along with the differential. Such a scheme is commonly used in real sports cars and is the first time such a design has been used in a sedan.
Such a Maserati was driven by singers Gwen Stefani and Lindsay Lohan.
