In 2009, Mazda introduced the new 3 model, which has a completely new design for both exterior and interior. The new design is clearly similar to its bigger brother Mazda 6. The new model is wider, longer and lighter than its predecessor and has the same 148 horsepower (110 kW) 2.0 L engine as well as a new 167 horsepower (125 kW) 2.5 L engine borrowed from the second-generation Mazda6, which replaced the old 2.3L engine. In the European market, the Mazda 3 will have i-stop technology, which will save up to 30% fuel (more than hybrid models). This technology shuts off the engine every time the car comes to a complete stop, then pressing the accelerator starts the engine quickly and the car can continue its journey without the driver noticing these processes almost unnoticed. Like the previous generation, the Mazda 3 is available in hatchback and sedan variants.
Most people would probably agree with me that this vehicle looks great and has an eye-catching style. The same can be said about the interior: pleasant, comfortable and cozy. Control buttons are conveniently positioned, the interior lighting of the dashboard is very good. As regards the driver and passenger ergonomics, everything is fine, except for one minor thing: if you spend too much time in the passenger’s seat you should alter the position otherwise you’ll start feeling uncomfortable because of your knees touching the glove compartment. I love driving this vehicle cause it’s very simple, easy and it gives me self-confidence I want. It also has a stiff suspension due to which driving becomes more enjoyable when taking sharp curves or cornering. The engine runs quietly and yet due to poor sound isolation you should forget about comfortable driving when hitting potholes full of water.
Performance
Having a 2.5 liter engine means having plenty of power (or even more than you need). You ain’t get disappointed by the traction this vehicle provides. Since my vehicle has an automatic transmission, I think with a manual transmission you’ll get more pleasure of course if only it isn’t a nerve-racking experience for you.
Reliability, running costs
During those couple of years I didn’t spend much on this vehicle. I had to change anti-roll bar, a shock absorber supporting mount and oil.
Recommendations to buyers
Just like in any other case pay attention to the overall car’s condition. Be ready to pay some extra when the time comes to change any car parts. It’s also important to know what real car owners think about their cars, so additional information is also available in forums which I suggest you to look for.
