The new Mazda6 has grown significantly to become even more dynamic in appearance and similar to a coupe. Its aerodynamic properties and stability at high speeds have also been significantly improved. All exterior elements are designed to reduce the drag coefficient (Cd): 0.27 for the sedan and hatchback, and 0.28 for the station wagon. The engine range includes a new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, and for the North American market, a 3.7-liter V6, which is also fitted to the Mazda CX-9 model. The car is built on a Ford CD3 platform and comes with a 4-door sedan, 5-door hatchback and station wagon body. Despite the increased dimensions, the weight of the car even decreased (engineers paid great attention to the weight of the parts during its design), so the handling properties remained good. The hatchback model has more luggage space than the larger Ford Mondeo competitor. The car’s electric power steering was praised, providing good feedback to the driver. Active and passive safety systems also do not embarrass the car - it is equipped with large-diameter cooled front disc brakes and efficient rear brake discs, as well as ABS, EBD, emergency braking, DSC and TCS systems as standard on all models.
