Mercedes-Benz EQB, 2021 - present
The Mercedes-Benz EQB is basically a version of the Mercedes-Benz GLB with an electric motor only. The letter B at the back tells us that this is a compact SUV that matches the size of a Class B Mercedes. We appreciate the fact that the Germans did not decorate this crossover and left it angled, which gives it exclusivity in the crowded crossover market. The EQB has distinctive Mercedes-Benz design elements such as an expressive front grille, but it also has the features of the EQ series electric cars - a glossy airtight "radiator" grille, a continuous strip of LED lights on the front and rear of the car. New body design solutions also contribute to a low coefficient of air resistance (Cd - 0.28) and lower energy consumption. Despite its small size, the new Mercedes can be equipped with three rows of seats. The interior of the car, like all Mercedes in recent years, is excellent - basically the interior style is very similar to that of Mercedes A, B and CLA class and exactly the same as the GLB model with internal combustion engines. True, the EQB / GLB interior design features slightly tighter lines with accentuated aluminum details on the front panel and tight horizontal door handles. The EQB series consists of models with front or all-wheel drive. The battery capacity of all models starts at 66.5 kWh, and some models have a capacity of more than 200 kW. Built on the base of the compact GLB SUV, the EQB features a spacious and easily modifiable cabin and three rows of seats that can accommodate up to seven people. As many as four chairs are suitable for transporting children and have holders that comply with the ISOFIX standard. Mercedes-Benz emphasizes that this is one of the first family-friendly electric cars on the market. In fact, if we look at how many seven-seater electric cars we have to date, there are only a few of them - the Tesla Model X, the large SUV Mercedes EQV, and there is the Tesla Model S if we consider the seats in the trunk to be real seats. Despite being representative of the compact SUV class, the EQB's trunk is extremely spacious: without the third row of seats, it has a total capacity of 1,710 liters.
