The new Colt-designed Olivier Boulay appeared on the market in 2003, this time on the same platform as Smart Forfour. Production of the car started with engines: 1.1 MPI, 1.3 MPI, 1.5 MPI and turbo 1.5T. This 1.5T engine with turbine and intercooler has 147 hp / 6000 rpm and 210 Nm / 3500 rpm torque. 2004 A 1.5 L D-ID turbodiesel engine with direct fuel injection and an intercooler with 95 hp (70 kW) was introduced in November. In 2005, Mitsubishi introduced the Colt CZC coupe with a hardtop and 2 + 2 seats. The car was developed in collaboration with Ken Okuyama of Pininfarina. Having acquired the monotonous features, the Mitsubishi Colt will impress not only with its attractive body lines, but also with its spacious interior and solid behavior on the road.

Car description
It’s a great city vehicle, featuring good mobility. Car interior assembly is pretty good too. But poor sound isolation is what actually irritates me most. When driving at high revs the interior gets too noisy. Another bad thing is how small it actually is. Once you get behind the steering wheel it feels more like sitting in a tiny baby car. On one hand you can take its size as an advantage if driving in the city, on the other hand, you can get easily blinded by other vehicles’ headlights, so safety is another issue that matters. Equipped with stability and traction control this makes it stable to drive. Just like any other Japanese vehicles, it has a pretty stiff chassis (expect to experience some bouncy rides)… Until you get tired of that :) Generally speaking, Mitsubishi Colt is inexpensive to own and run, still let’s not forget that it’s not a luxury class vehicle.
Performance
Despite the year, its engine is very economical and reliable though could make a bit less noise. Having 50 kW of power wasn’t enough for me. As a result, we did engine tuning (chiptuning) in order to increase the engine’s power up to 68 kW. Right now we’re totally satisfied of the results achieved. The traction is impressive. Fuel consumption didn’t increase dramatically (38 mpg in the city). To my mind, if everything is done on the right time the engine shouldn’t let you down.
Recommendations to buyers
My recommendation for you – check well the vehicle and be 100 % sure of what you’re going to purchase. Don’t be lazy to take the vehicle to an authorized service center that has a good reputation.
