The all-new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer has been unveiled. This time, the compact sedan has got a great design and brings with it the spirit of a true sports car. For almost 30 years, this car has been visible in international rally arenas and Mitsubishi wants to apply this experience to the streets of the 21st century. Indelible impressions - that's what this car's handling and behavior on the road offers. The new model with a shark-shaped nose stands out for its dynamic lines, great engines and a long list of accessories. The new Lancer also features 7 airbags, ABS brakes with electronic brake power distribution to all wheels, and a rugged RISE (Realized Impact Safety Evolution) system body construction. A 140 hp 2.0 L diesel model with an engine borrowed from Volkswagen is also produced in Europe.
I was surprised how soft the chassis was, but some cheap quality car interior is what I don’t like. Luckily no hum or rattle sound bothers me. At higher rpm you get enough traction. This vehicle has a 59-litre tank, folding down the rear seats is easy and provides enough space to load let’s say lots of flat-packed furniture. Now talking about fuel consumption. If to drive on the highway with an activated cruise control, the vehicle tends to consume 50 mpg; whereas in the city – 33 mpg. Audio system will leave you speechless. My vehicle has a subwoofer that provides great deep bass; in-dash 6-disc CD changer, a hands-free phone system. I suggest instead of going for 12 V 8W interior light bulbs, try 12V 5W. Another thing – since I’ve got falken tires there’s no noise in the cabin. No problems with the engine either. The chassis is rather simple.
Reliability, running costs
My suggestion – pay attention to the roof and wings. If the vehicle has stone chips and dents from the loose stone, very likely some rust may appear as a consequence of this…
