The 2006 Mitsubishi street racing version of the Evolution received minor upgrades - new grilles, bumpers, alloy wheels, as well as some details in the interior - new rear seats and more. The Evolution IX 2.0 L engine 4G63 has MIVEC technology (variable valve timing) and develops 286 hp (213 kW) of power and 392 Nm of torque. The MR version features a Bilstein shock absorber, 6-speed manual transmission, BBS forged rims, xenon headlights, fog lights and an aluminum roof. All models have Recaro low seats, Brembo brakes and Momo steering wheels. In the UK, the Evolution IX again offers models called the FQ-300, FQ-320 and FQ-340, each with approximately 300, 320 and 340 hp respectively. The most powerful version of the FQ-360, although having less HP (360 hp) than the defunct FQ-400, has a higher torque of 492 Nm / 3200 rpm. A limited edition of 2,500 units of the Evolution IX with universal body has been released in Japan.
