Nissan Skyline, 1993 - 1998
The true road legend R33 was introduced in 1993. August and is slightly heavier than R32. The R33 is produced in a coupe and sedan body, all models use a 6-cylinder engine. Some models have a new 4-wheel drive system, Super HICAS, which, unlike the old HICAS, is not controlled hydraulically but electronically. Additionally, it was possible to select a transmission with an active differential that locks the rear differential if it feels that at least one wheel has lost control. The BCNR33 GT-R version had the same RB26DETT engine as the R32, but with higher torque achieved thanks to better turbocharger aerodynamics, piping and intercooler. Its specifications are a 2.6 L DOHC twin-turbo I6 engine with 305 hp (224 kW) and 375 Nm of torque. All GT-Rs have Brembo brakes, the newer ATTESA-ETS all-wheel drive system and the Super HICAS all-wheel drive system. Released in 1996 and a limited version called the NISMO 400R, which has 400 hp (298 kW) and a road-adapted engine from a car used in Nissan Le Mans racing, the car had a reinforced Getrag gearbox. The R33 GT-R driven Dirko Schoysman broke the Nordschleife ring in less than 8 minutes. It is said to be the first production car to cross this threshold (apart from the supercar Jaguar XJ220, which overcame the 7 '46 "). The R33 is very well known to fans of slip drift racing.
