The Opel Astra is a small family car designed and manufactured by GM's Opel. In 1998, the new Astra went on sale with a 3- and 5-door hatchback, a 4-door sedan body and two special versions: the Astra Coupe and the Astra Cabrio. Both of these bodies are designed by Bertone Design Company. The chassis of the Astra was adapted by the Lotus company, and the base of the car is also used in the production of the seven-seater compact minivan Opel Zafira.
