This GT3 is designed primarily for the streets, even keeping in mind that it was designed by the same engineers who are responsible for the racing Porsche. One of the best features of the GT3 is the direct interface between the driver and the car. The feedback received from the road is maximally detailed, while every driver’s movement is accurately conveyed to the technician. The GT3 is instinctively recognizable even when closed. The flat 6-cylinder engine has a unique sound and easily reaches 8400 rpm. Pressing the throttle releases power instantly and precisely with the largest energy explosion. Of course, these features can only be fully appreciated while driving the GT3 itself.
Road and Track magazine has tested this generation GT3 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds.

This car is often titled as the best managed car in the world.

The GT3 racing versions have won several 24-hour races and dominate their class in the Le Mans, American Le Mans series, 24-hour Spa (won the 2010 race) and 24-hour Nürburgring (won the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 race) races.

In 2010, a hybrid version of the GT3 R Hybrid was introduced, which uses the Kinetic Braking Energy Recovery System (KERS) developed by the F1 Williams team. The car has two electric motors of 102 hp, which are connected to the front wheels. The car debuted in the 2010 VLN 4-hour race and won its first victory in 2011.
