The Rover 25 version has a similar front design to the 75 model. The 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8-liter petrol and 2.0-liter diesel engines were moved from the 200 model, but the gearbox was taken from Ford. A sporty version of the MG ZR was also introduced. It had a different interior and exterior design, suspension and a 1.8 VVC 160 hp engine. It was the best-selling sporty hatchback in Britain. 2003 Rover develops an off-road version with increased ground clearance and plastic bumpers.
