The Rover 800 series belongs to the luxury car class and was launched in 1986. The 800 was developed in collaboration with Honda and was a close relative of the Honda Legend model. Appearing on the market, the Rover 800 has become one of the most popular cars in its class in the UK. This class has been divided into several segments - the less luxurious Ford and Opel models, as well as the prestigious BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The Rover 800 competed directly with the Ford Scorpio and Opel Omega models. In 1992, this Rover was significantly refurbished to acquire the traditional Rover radiator grille, a sleeker body. This update was a response to press criticism for the very vague and outdated design it had. The upgrades were appreciated by buyers and the car became the most popular in its class in the early 1990s. A coupe version was also produced that was designed for most of the U.S. market, but was not sold here anyway. The interior of the car was largely made and assembled by hand.
