The Seat Cordoba is a small family car developed by the Volkswagen Group and sold under the Seat badge. The car was built on a VW A03 platform like the VW Polo (Mk3) model with station wagon, sedan and coupe bodies. This Cordoba is marketed as a sporty and youthful car (like most Seats) sold at competitive prices (while the Skoda is marketed as just a cheap reliable car). The Cordoba was significantly cheaper than the main competitors in sedan bodies - the Ford Escort, Opel Astra, Peugeot 306 and Renault Megane, but the Seat trunk is larger. Cordoba no longer has the reliability problems typical of a Seat and has become one of the best assembled and most reliable representatives in its class in Europe. By 2002, when production of the second-generation Ibiza / Cordoba was discontinued, the car had already become one of the most popular mini-cars in Europe. The Seat Cordoba was also used as the basis for the WRC (World Rally Car). Although the rally car did not achieve significant victories, it won podium places several times - 1999 Rally New Zealand (with Gardemeister), 1999 Rally of Great Britain (with Rovanpera) and 2000 Safari Rally (with Auriol).
