The Skoda Fabia is a compact car manufactured since 1999 and has replaced the Skoda Felicia model. The Fabia was produced in hatchback, station wagon and sedan bodies. It was the first model to use the Volkswagen A04 platform it shares with the Volkswagen Polo Mk IV and Seat Ibiza. The success of the Fabia is partly due to the fact that Volkswagen mechanical parts are widely used in the car, but due to poorer equipment, the price of the Fabia is much lower than that of its cousins from the Volkswagen Group. In 2003, the Fabia vRS (marking the Fabia model’s participation in the WRC Championship) with a diesel engine was introduced. It was one of the first sporty hatchbacks with a diesel engine. The engine is a VW production 1.9-liter (Pumpe-Duse Turbocharged-Diesel) with 130 hp (96 kW) and 310 Nm of torque at 1900 rpm, with a six-speed gearbox. In Scotland, this car was recognized as the "2003 Diesel Car of the Year". Officially, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.5 seconds, but after adjusting the engine control computer, a pretty impressive result of ~ 7.0-7.5 seconds time to 100km / h. Top Gear tested a version of the vRS that turned out to be faster than a similarly priced MINI Cooper.
