The new Skoda Yeti is designed to compete with cars such as the Nissan Qashqai or MINI Crossman. With the exception of a few cosmetic changes, the car is virtually unchanged from the conceptual model that debuted at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. This car promises to be the most flexible and comprehensive Skoda model. The car looks really solid and attractive. At just 4.2 meters long, the Yeti is only slightly larger than the Citroen C3 Picasso, but has more interior space, leg and head space is saturated, the boot volume is as high as 410 liters, and lowering the rear seats gives as much as 1,760 liters of space. Inside, the dashboard also earns good ratings for quality and simple device layout. The Skoda Yeti has a lot in common with the Octavia 4x4, which in turn is built on the MkV Volkswagen Golf base. The rear suspension is borrowed from the Passat to improve stability and comfort. It is expected that only a third of the Yeti will be sold with an all-wheel drive system. The car is not as sporty to drive as the Ford Kuga - the Yeti feels higher. However, the driving characteristics are very good and precise, the suspension is quite rigid, but remains comfortable. The higher seat is also very comfortable for city driving. With a hill descent, a push-button off-road mode, and ABS for slippery surfaces, the Skoda Yeti is sure to be a reliable small SUV.
