The Subaru Forester has always been characterized by robustness, reliability, a well-balanced suspension, an efficient four-wheel drive system and reliable boxer-type engines. The new model retained all these advantages, but did not get rid of the old disadvantages - it is a dull design and uneconomical engines. The developers of the new model seem to expect to retain existing buyers but not attract new ones. Sure, the car looks solid, definitely radiating a true Subaru spirit that attracts buyers like a magnet, but it would be hard to single out at least one design detail that would delight with novelty or freshness. Inside, the Forester has an interior very similar to the smaller and cheaper Subaru XV model, which really can’t be seen as an advantage. But overall the quality of the interior is commendable. The real advantages of the car are revealed in the evaluation of the passability characteristics and the alignment of the suspension. The SUV just adheres perfectly to the given trajectory. A permanent system of all-wheel drive also contributes to this. True, the suspension is really stiff. The manual gearbox works just fine, but the CVT variable-ratio gearbox works smoothly and doesn’t give the sense of power that the engine itself has. The diesel 2.0-liter engine produces 147 hp at 3600 rpm and 350 Nm at 1600-2400 rpm. Gasoline engine enthusiasts are also offered a version with a turbine with 240 hp at 5600 rpm. and 350 Nm at 2400-3600 rpm. The cheapest version has a petrol engine with 150 hp.
