The Subaru SVX is a GT class coupe car. Beautiful SVX lines and unique double side "glass in glass" were created by designer Giugiaro. This idea was first introduced in the concept car, but later this idea, like some others, was put into series production, so buyers in the SVX car could really feel like a concept car. The car has a 3.3-liter boxer-type horizontal 6-cylinder engine with 230 hp (172 kW) / 5400 rpm and 309 Nm / 4400 rpm of torque. Acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 7.3 seconds. This engine was the largest Subaru passenger car engine ever built until the 2008 Subaru Tribeca delivery with a 3.6 L boxer engine. The SVX with all-wheel drive (4WS) was produced in Japan. Still, the car was not commercially successful. Some typical SVX problems are transmission failures in early models and wheel bearing failures.
The original double side windows are influenced by similar glasses used in airplanes. Similar glass is found in exotic cars such as the Lamborghini Countach, De Lorean DMC-12 or McLaren F1.

The Subaru SVX was not a commercially successful car - the company lost $ 3,000 from every SVX sold, a total of $ 75 million.

In 1991, the Subaru SVX won the Alcan Winter Rally in Seattle, USA, continued all the way to the Arctic Circle and finished again in Seattle.

This car does not have EuroNCAP safety rating.
