The Tesla Roadster is a fully electric sports car. This is the very first car developed by Tesla Motors. The Roadster can travel 393 km on a single charge of a lithium-ion battery and can accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour (0-97 km / h) in 3.9 seconds. An improved version of the Sport was introduced in January 2009 with adjustable shock absorbers and a new engine capable of accelerating the car from 0-60 miles per hour (0-97 km / h) in just 3.7 seconds. The efficiency of the Roadster model is reported to be about 2.0 L / 100 km. The car was developed with the help of a Lotus company that provided suspension elements borrowed from the Lotus Elise model.
The Tesla Roadster is the first production car to have lithium-ion batteries and the first electric-only car to travel more than 320 km.
The Tesla Roadster became the first electric car to win the Monte Carlo Alternative Energy Rally in 2010. The car was driven by former F1 racer Érik Comas, a total of about 1,000 km in three days.
On the Top Gear show, the Tesla Roadster was praised for its incredible speed. Tesla passed the test round of the show in 1: 27.2, which is faster than the Nissan 370Z.
