The third-generation Toyota Avensis was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The new design is designed to be more aerodynamic and more athletic - although the car has changed significantly, it retains the features of its predecessor. The Avensis has a very good coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.28 for the sedan and 0.29 for the station wagon. Another goal was to create the most comfortable suspension in the class, but without losing good control. The Avensis continues to have a McPherson-type front suspension and two rear crossbars. The car is very safe, has seven standard airbags, and active head restraints are used in the event of a rear-end collision to reduce neck injuries, and the car’s rear lights flash when braking extremely hard. In Euro NCAP testing, the Avensis received five stars with an overall rating of 81%. The Avensis is equipped with three petrol and four diesel engines.

Car description
It’s a very reliable, comfortable, safe and of a good quality. I owe it for one year and so far I’ve had only a problem with an airbag. When the warning light came on, I took my car to the repair shop where I was told that there had been some kind of mistake. And so the airbag was changed. Since I had my car insurance I didn’t have to pay a penny. Everything else doesn’t cause any headache. It has a soft chassis which runs a bit too loud. 2 liter petrol engine and noises coming from the outside are almost inaudible. The interior quality is good, but when driving on bumpy roads rattling sound can be heard though it doesn’t bother or distract me. A clear and convenient center console layout adds additional value for this vehicle. The Sol grade model to my mind has an impressive array of equipment. What I miss is the USB port, it only has Aux input, but the mobile phone can be connected with the help of Bluetooth (you can both have a talk or listen to music – the quality is pretty good). Another good thing – plenty of compartments: a glove box, a cup holder for tea or coffee, a sunglasses case, a coin holder. Front park distance sensors sometimes start beeping out of nowhere (even if there’s no obstacle ahead). It annoys me a lot, but for experienced drivers it shouldn’t matter much. Of course this is temporal; once they go off automatically the same thing happens with the rear sensors too. So if you have to park a car, but you forget to turn them on expect the unexpected problems :). In general, the rear park distance sensors work fine. As I have previously stated, a small tank can be one more minor prob. On the other hand you manage to save some money when your gas tank has to be filled :). According to my calculations, it consumes 30 mpg though it shows 32 mpg. Luckily, error of the computer is small.
Performance
I have a 2 liter petrol engine and it’s quite efficient. Fuel consumption on the highway 42 mpg, whereas in the city (in summer) – 33 mpg (in winter the amount of fuel consumed increases), being stuck in a traffic jam leads to 27 mpg.
Reliability, running costs
Running costs as for a new vehicle are pretty low.
