The Toyota Yaris went on sale in Europe in early 1999. The Toyota Yaris was named European Car of the Year in 2000, defeating the innovative Fiat Multipla. The interior of the Yaris uses digital ones instead of traditional analog instruments, which were installed in the central part of the panel. In Europe, the Yaris was initially produced with 4-cylinder 1.0 L or 1.3 L engines with Toyota VVT-i technology, as well as the most powerful 1.5 L T-Sport since 2001. Following the 2003 upgrade, a 1.4 L D4-D diesel engine with 75 hp (56 kW) was also offered. This diesel engine is borrowed from BMW, which is also used by the MINI One D. The Yaris is a small, city car relevant to today’s city dweller.
