A truly excellent and brutal British sports car, the character of which is perfectly described by its name, which in Greek mythology means the three-headed dog Cerber, guarding the gates of the afterlife. The TVR Cerbera was produced from 1996 to 2003 and was the third TVR car produced under the direction of Peter Wheeler. The Cerbera was the company’s first four-seater car, as well as the first to have an engine developed entirely by the TVR company (previously the TVR cars had Rover, Ford or Triumph engines). Wheeler described the engine as follows: "Basically we designed the engine for racing. It's a V8 engine with cylinders lined up at a 75-degree angle. The lower part of the engine to the head is exactly the same as the Formula 1 car engines." Named the Speed Eight, this power plant had a 4.2 L output and 360 horsepower (268 kW). A larger 4.5-liter version with 420 horsepower (310 kW) was later introduced. The smaller engine allowed the Cerbera to reach speeds of up to 297 km / h. This VR V8 engine had one of the best power / liter ratios among atmospheric engines in the world at 83.3 hp / liter (4.2 L engine) and 93.3 hp / liter (4.5 L engine). The engine is also extremely compact and light - it weighs only 121 kilograms. The car itself was designed as a 2 + 2 coupe, but the front passenger seat slides more than the driver, so the car’s seat formula can be described as a “3 + 1”. Traditionally, TVR produces cars that are not only very powerful but also light - Cerbera weighs only 1,100 kilograms. In the interior, the instrument panel was designed specifically for the Cerbera model. The two-spoke steering wheel stands out here - the reason for this is that some instruments are located at the bottom and would not be visible behind the lower third-wheel spoke. The car certainly did not have such systems as the electronic stability system, but this "flaw" was sought to compensate with an extremely sharp steering mechanism - the car's steering wheel only needs to be turned twice from one extreme position to another. For more experienced drivers, this allows for more abrupt handling of the car and thus regain control during slipping, but less experienced drivers have complained that the Cerbera is too sensitive to small steering turns.
The name of the car in Greek mythology means Cerber, a three-headed dog guarding the gates of the afterlife.

The Cerbera was the company’s first four-seater.

Cerbera is also the first to have an engine developed entirely by JHA.
