Volkswagen Beetle, 2011 - 2019
The new Volkswagen Beetle no longer has the word “New” in its name. The new generation car is very similar to its predecessor, but this time it has a lower, less rounded, less inflated profile and sharper edges. The car smells the same retro spirit, but looks sportier, stronger. It is clear that the Volkswagen company is trying to attract not only a female audience, but also younger men. Such a Beetle returns to a fight with its closest competitors, the MINI and Fiat 500. Inside, the car also looks sportier, more solid and less playful than its predecessor - highlighted by additional displays at the top of the instrument panel, carbon fiber and sporty seats. The design style of the instrument panel is really reminiscent of the design of the new Volvo S60. This generation Beetle is longer than its predecessor (now 4278 mm) as it is built on the new platform A5 (PQ35) it shares with the new Volkswagen Jetta. The car is 12 mm lower and 88 mm wider, and the luggage compartment is larger (310 l instead of the previous 209 l). The most powerful engine has a displacement of 2 liters and reaches 216 hp, and the weakest - 1.2 liters (108 hp). Buyers can also choose a car with a 1.4-liter engine (164 hp). The more economical should be attracted by 1.6-liter (108 hp) and 2-liter (144 hp) diesel engines. Now the Beetle has become better controlled, but the steering wheel is still not as informative as you would like, and the suspension is a bit stiff. All in all, it is safe to say that the new Beetle is much more practical, spacious and sporty - a big step forward.
