Introduced in 2006, Crafter is the largest Volkswagen commercial vehicle with a mass of 3-5 tons, which has replaced the LT model, which has been manufactured for 31 years. In the 1990s, Volkswagen and Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz developed a joint product - the first-generation Sprinter and the second-generation Volkswagen LT commercial vehicles. Today’s Crafter and Sprinter models share a common body, but Volkswagen has a different front end design, other engines and transmissions. All Crafter engines are Volkswagen-based using a 2459 cc 5-cylinder TDI common rail diesel engine. They all meet the latest Euro 4 European particulate emission standards. The car is manufactured with three different wheelbases: 3,250 mm, 3,665 mm and 4,325 mm in length.
