Volkswagen Scirocco, 1981 - 1992
The name Scirocco, like the names of many other Volkswagen models, comes from the name Wind. The design of the second-generation Scirocco was developed by Volkswagen's own engineers, but is still assembled at Karmann's plant in Osnabrück. The car became sleeker, more spacious, the trunk compartment increased. One of the outstanding features of the second-generation Scirocco is the rear spoiler mounted in the middle of the rear window. The car could be ordered with a leather interior, electric windows and mirrors, air conditioning and a mechanical sunroof. The displacement of the car’s engines ranged from 1.3 to 1.8 liters. The power of the 8-valve engines ranged from 44 kW (60 hp) to 82 kW (112 hp), and that of the more powerful 16-valve engines ranged from 95 kW (129 hp) to 102 kW (139 hp).
