A Porsche Cayenne competitor has appeared! Volkswagen has introduced the second-generation stylish and sporty SUV Touareg. The main features of the new model are inherited from other models of this brand, such as the Golf or Polo. The most noticeable change is the modern radiator grille, headlights with U-shaped LED lights and a body with sharper lines. In general, the design doesn’t look radically changed, and the car itself is visually even smaller. Klaus Bischoff, head of VW's design department, described the design idea as follows: "the old Touareg looked heavier than it actually was due to the rounded lines. Now the sharper lines give the car the impression of dynamism and lightness." In fact, the Touareg has even increased - it has lengthened, widened and slightly lowered, and thanks to the 38 mm longer wheelbase, it has become more spacious for passengers sitting in the rear seats. The length of the second-generation folk jeep is now 4758 mm and the height is 1724 mm. Importantly, the car lost as much as 200 kilograms of weight - largely due to a lighter aluminum engine. Inside, the Touareg will not leave lovers of quality and luxury indifferent - here you will find high-quality leather seats, wood and perfectly matched aluminum inserts, touchscreen navigation, car blind spot warning system, height-adjustable shock absorbers, and a sliding rear seat bench. The on-board computer menu system is intuitive, and all devices are logically and conveniently arranged in an attractive panel. It is also possible to order a camera that scans the surroundings around the car at a 360-degree angle and transmits the information to the LCD display. The driving position is very comfortable and gives the impression of a sporty car. The new cooled seats are extremely comfortable for long journeys, and the rear seats have much more legroom - exactly what the first-generation model lacked. SUV buyers will be able to choose from three different engines. It is expected that 35 percent of buyers will choose the base version with a 3.0 L V6 diesel engine with 238 hp and 550 Nm of torque with a turbocharger. Combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission and complemented by an engine start-stop system, this unit consumes an average of 7.2 liters of fuel per 100 km of road. Those who want a more powerful engine can choose a 4.2 L V8 diesel engine with a turbine of 337 hp and 800 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 6 seconds, but its appetite is quite moderate - only 9.1 l / 100 km. Undoubtedly, the biggest news is that a hybrid version of the Touareg has been introduced, the Audi S4 3.3 L V6 329 hp petrol unit with a compressor, complemented by a 46 hp electric motor. The total power of the hybrid is 375 hp and the torque is 580 Nm. A speed of 100 km / h is reached in 6.5 seconds, fuel consumption is 8.2 l / 100 km, and up to 30 km / h. at speed it will be possible to roll using only electricity.
