Car description
Hey! Before I start writing my review I just wanna let you know that I’m not an auto expert, thus my review will be simply from an auto lover’s point of view. I’ve been enjoying this car for almost 1.5 year; therefore, I can tell my own opinion about this vehicle. First of all, here are some remarks about its exterior styling. In comparison with older version of 3rd class vehicles, the exterior styling has changed completely. Personally I love modern style. The body never rusts; you just need to take care of it well. The interior design is minimalist with no unnecessary buttons. Everything is clear and simple, easily accessible. Functions depend on the equipment installed. The interior of my vehicle is partially made of leather, but to my mind BMW must have do it fully and only in leather. Everything else is just brill! What I really enjoy about this car is heated seats, rain sensors, parking system sensors etc. M sport steering wheel is also more enjoyable than the usual one. The size of this vehicle does not differ from any other vehicles of this class, so for the passengers sitting in the back seats it might seem not roomy enough though it doesn’t cause much discomfort.
Performance
Since this 2.0-litre engine has 129 kW, you’ll have plenty of power; no problems will be experienced neither in the city nor on the highway speeding at 120 km/h or more. Once you improve your car with chip tuning, it will perform a lot better on the highway speeding not less than 150 km/h. It is also worth to mention the automatic transmission works flawlessly. It has 2 modes: “S” (Sport) and “C” (Comfort). There’s a possibility to shift gears by yourself. Manual, I think, is no longer popular cause those who have tried automatic transmission will never go back to manual. As I have heard, these transmissions are almost ‘immortal’.
Reliability, running costs
Maintenance costs are basically not high. During 1.5 year I had to change tail lights (it wasn’t expensive), oil, fuel filters, cabin air filters and air filters. The only unpleasant thing was a broken turbine. Since nothing could be done, I had to change it into a new one. Chassis always works fine :). As for the devaluation, it’s hard to say anything. Cheaper and cheaper vehicles are brought from abroad; still I wouldn’t recommend going for the cheapest variant. You’ll have to face a bunch of other problems that will require additional financial investments. So if you choose to buy a very-well kept car, it’ll have its price but you do not have to worry about its devaluation.
Recommendations to buyers
If you are considering buying such a car, I’d recommend buying with the automatic transmission since it definitely brings more comfort. If there’s sport mode you’ll be able to shift gears manually. Since a turbine isn’t long-lasting, check it only in a good auto repair shop. Also, choose your vehicle with good equipment installed. You’d have a great pleasure (especially in winter time) if your seats were heated, a sunroof would be with a see through skylight (impressive view at night watching stars above :) and there was parking system sensors (very useful). Everything else depends on you fantasy, financial possibilities and individual needs. And of course don’t look, folks, for the cheapest variant because usually such vehicles are sold with defects cleverly disguised form the buyer.
