Aston Martin DBX, 2020 - present
Until five years ago, we had no idea that Lamborghini, Bentley or Rolls-Royce could be SUVs. Now we wonder why the company Aston Martin has just introduced its SUV. With ultra-luxury car manufacturers in mind for the coming era of electric cars, the only way to grow the business is to expand the existing car range. The SUV has become the standard next step, the next one will be a compact SUV and of course a four-seater coupe-style sedan. The Aston Martin company knows that more than 70 percent of Aston Martin sports car owners also own an SUV in their garage. Why couldn’t this SUV come with an Aston Martin badge? In addition to a wider circle of potential buyers, Aston Martin hopes the new SUV will attract more female buyers. So the Aston Martin DBX is the company’s first SUV in its entire 106-year history. It has been in development since 2015 and now faces a range of exclusive SUVs such as the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and Maserati Levante. The DBX is a car slightly longer than five meters long and 2.2 meters wide, including the side mirrors and weighing 2.2 tonnes. Stylistically, it is a typical Aston Martin model with typical headlights, as well as the rear lights already seen in the Aston Martin V8 Vantage across the entire width of the car and a sporty profile silhouette. The large radiator grille - the largest of all Aston Martin models, the boot lid with a folded edge for airflow and a frameless door - is perfect for a large SUV - just like a regular sports Aston Martin. Marek Reichman, director of the car’s creative team, says the new model must be clearly recognizable to Aston Martin. Although DBX has many common nodes with the Vantage model, it was developed only on its own platform. Like other Aston Martin models, the DBX comes with an aluminum frame and some body parts. The power plant and information system are borrowed from Mercedes-Benz: the SUV is powered by a Mercedes-AMG M177 4.0-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers of 550 hp (405 kW) and 700 Nm of torque. The DBX can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 292 km / h. For comparison Lamborghini Urus from 0 to 100 km / h. acceleration takes just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of all 305 km / h. Thus, the Aston Martin DBX embodies the company's vision - to produce perhaps not the fastest, but definitely sporty and stylish cars.
