Introducing the second generation BMW 1 Series BMW. The car can no longer boast an exclusive ribbed design - this time the lines have become smoother, softer, more similar to the new BMW 5 and 6 Series. Isn't a "male" brand like BMW trying to attract a non-female audience? Inside, the BMW 1 Series welcomes the higher-quality soft plastic trim (at least in the front of the cabin) and the typical BMW style. The car has a number of attributes typical of its bigger brothers - a deviation warning system, an adaptive autopilot, and so on. True inside, the car remained just as cramped, and the boot was unimpressive at just 360 liters (the seats folded up to 1,200 liters). Underneath the hood is a basic 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine with as much as 170 hp and 250 Nm and complete with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Data for this version: 5.6 liters average fuel consumption, 7.5 sec. acceleration to 100 km / h and 131 g / km CO2 emissions. The diesel engines are: 2.0-liter turbo units with 143 hp (118d) and 184 hp (120d) and the most economical 114 hp (116d). Still, it's best to appreciate this car when you're behind the wheel: a great balance between sportiness and comfort (unlike the 1st generation car), great road performance, a well-functioning electric power steering, ideal weight distribution between both axles (50% front and 50% rear) - namely this is what fascinates the real driver the most, especially when navigating the winding "corridors" of the city. However, the main disadvantage of the car remained the same - it's a high price.
German magazine Auto Bild and Bild am Sonntag have selected the BMW 1 Series as the winner of the Golden Steering Wheel competition in the compact car segment.
