For the last few years, the Hyundai company has been surprising the world of the automotive industry by introducing cars with an exclusive and at the same time very different design, such as the electric cars Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. And this year, the equally challenging fifth-generation Santa Fe SUV surprised us with its bold and characteristic design, which is so different from its predecessor. predecessors. True, this design of the car did not come as a surprise to us, because we see such a trend in the recently released models of the sister company Kia, e.g. Kia Carnival, Kia Niro and especially the angular Kia EV9 electric SUV that got a lot of attention. By the way, Hyundai retired the previous generation model after only five years of production, which is a very short period of time. However, after seeing the new Santa Fe model, this decision seems completely logical - it is a car with a completely different stylistic and equipment level. The SUV has become not only much larger, but also a more luxurious car with all the attributes characteristic of premium segment cars. The fifth-generation Santa Fe looks really impressive - with emphasis on flat and angular body shapes and ideal proportions characteristic of SUVs. The design of the front part in a minimalistic style catches the eye ala "Minecraft" or "Roblox" - angular with rectangular pixelated lights connected by a light strip, rectangular radiator grills and rectangular black plastic inserts arranged in a disorderly or just emphatically orderly manner. Interestingly, these plastic inserts, as well as the rectangular rims of the wheel arches, are made of glossy plastic, which looks extremely aesthetic and beautiful when the car is clean. I wonder how they will look in practice. The wheel arch surrounds, along with the extremely massive wheel arches of the same shape, give the car that solidity that can only be felt by looking at the Santa Fe. To make the car look more dynamic, the designers designed a slightly sloping roof line, and the rear pillars are almost vertical. An analogous design solution was only not very successfully implemented by Honda designers in the 2002 model of the Honda Accord station wagon. Hyundai designers seem to be head and shoulders above their Japanese counterparts. In the rear part of Santa Fe, we see the same angular composition - here the lights are somewhat unexpectedly installed not vertically as is usual in SUVs, but horizontally and at the very bottom. The low lights, the small vertical rear window contrast with the large metal part of the trunk lid, but that was exactly the goal of Hyundai designers - to present solutions that are somewhat unusual for our eyes. In addition, in this way we get a maximally large trunk lid in terms of width and height. Such a flat car body gives a lot of space inside, which will appeal to those who like to camp in nature, but do not like to sleep in a tent. Santa Fe can be purchased with two or three rows of seats, and when all but the first rows are folded, a completely flat surface is obtained on which at least two people can sleep comfortably. In the cabin, we meet the same theme - almost vertical flat panels provide a lot of space and look aesthetically pleasing. The manufacturer has prepared a well-designed front panel with a digital dashboard in front of the driver and a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center. These two seamlessly integrated displays form a panoramic curved display. It's also great that the main controls for the audio system and climate control on the center console have remained physical and easy to operate. The interior of the car looks very well made and made of quality materials - it really deserves the name of the premium segment. Under the hood of the engine, Hyundai installed two hybrid drives - one driven by a 1.6 L, the other by a 2.5 L gasoline unit. Both engines were carried over from the previous generation Santa Fe.
