Porsche Taycan, 2020 - present
It’s a really fun car - not because it’s an electric car, but because it’s a Porsche electric car. When Tesla Model S feats on racing and drag races are heard around the world, what else but Porsche are we challenging Elon Musko’s work? It is safe to say that the Taycan is an extremely important model in the company’s history, a coger as important as the Porsche Cayenne SUV that appeared twenty years ago. This is not only because it is the first Porsche electric car, but also the first mid-range family Porsche. Indeed, this company has for some time avoided penetrating this market segment without wanting to ruin its image as an exclusive carmaker. But along with the first electric car, it’s a great opportunity to take the first step with a bang. The debut seems to be calculated in German. The name Taycan is derived from two Turkish words and means "the soul of a young horse", a coger of the same horse that appears in the Porsche logo. Porsche left the names of the modifications traditional - Turbo and Turbo S, although there are of course no turbines in the Taycan cars. Both modifications are driven and steered on all 4 wheels. Most of the power is transferred to the rear axle, which is usually more loaded. The weaker version of the Turbo generates 670 hp (490 kW), while the Turbo S produces 761 hp (560 kW) and an impressive 1050 Nm of torque. The maximum speed of both models is 260 km / h. - not so much, but from 0 to 100 km / h. The Turbo accelerates in 3.2 seconds and the Turbo S in just 2.8 seconds. The Taycan Turbo S with a fully charged battery can travel 412 km and the Turbo 450 km. As an electric car, the Porsche Taycan has a non-standard solution - a two-speed transmission that allows you to achieve the best possible acceleration, while the second gear ensures maximum efficiency. In addition, the Porsche Taycan is the first electric car in the world with an 800-volt electrical system. This is twice the voltage of other electric cars. This solution makes it possible to reduce the electric current, which means that the Taycan can have thinner wires and thus a reduced weight. In addition, lower currents will reduce the car's engines and batteries. This means that, unlike the Tesla Model S, the Porsche electric car will be able to travel a much longer distance in the most powerful mode, thus achieving better results on the race tracks. This is evidenced by the record of four miniature electric cars reached on the Nurburgring track, which is 7 min. 42 sec. In terms of design, the Taycan is very similar to other Porsche models. In fact, the entire rear end of the Taycan is almost identical to the famous 911 model with only a four-body solution. It's not a bad thing, but the front of the car looks really unusual - it lacks both originality and Porsche identity. Clearly, Taycan’s developers focused on the technical part of the car, leaving design decisions aside. Still, the design is cleverly designed to achieve the ultimate goal of a maximally low air resistance coefficient of just 0.22. The relatively excellent coefficient of resistance of the Tesla Model S is somewhat poor - 0.24. The Taycan's rear spoiler hides in the boot lid, the air vents close, the rims have minimal resistance, and the car's bottom is flat, generating extra clamping force.
