Volkswagen ID. Buzz, 2022 - present
Perhaps no other minivan has been as anticipated as the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. And the reason for that is very simple - this cute minivan is a modern reincarnation of the classic Volkswagen Type 2 and this reincarnation is just in time. Now is the time when the names of the old legendary models start to be revived en masse and although this process started long ago with the Volkswagen New Beetle model, but now the manufacturers have the opportunity to present the new models in a new electric light. The new Volkswagen ID, of course. The Buzz minivan is an electric car, which fits perfectly with the hippie legacy of its predecessor, despite the fact that the two buses are separated by 70 years. Retro style, ecological and modern - Volkswagen ID. Buzz success is guaranteed. Designer Albert Kirzinger managed to create a connection with the classic van - the shape of the two, the front part have similarities, in the classic T1 the drivers sat directly above the front axle, the same is true in the new one. Here, the distance between the front and rear axles and the edges of the body is very short, resulting in a compact ID of 4712 mm. The Buzz body has a really long wheelbase that reaches 2988 mm. The battery is mounted along the floor, resulting in a low center of gravity, while the rear-mounted motor frees up space over the front axle and improves the car's handling and turning radius. Body roll is excellent for a car of this type and the steering feels good. In Europe, these electric cars are sold with a 77 kWh battery and a 150 kW electric motor driving the rear axle. id. Buzz supports up to 11kW AC or up to 170kW DC battery charging. The latter will allow you to charge the battery from 5 to 80 percent in about half an hour. Maximum ID. The speed of Buzz cars is electronically limited to 145 km/h. No matter which version you choose, Volkswagen claims that the electric car's range according to the WLTP will be no less than 400 km. Despite the fact that ID. The Buzz is a fairly comfortable car, but the suspension performance could be described as quite stiff. The cabin feels spacious no matter where you sit. The two front seats offer almost ideal comfort. The sliding side doors will be practical in tight parking spaces, but you won't have three individual seats in the second row, which is a bit disappointing. The passenger version has a lot of space not only for five passengers, but also for their luggage - 1121 l of space in the cargo compartment is dedicated to this. When the rear seat is folded down, this space expands to 2,205 l. Six-seater, seven-seater, extended wheelbase, camper and all-wheel drive versions will also appear later.
