The Saab 900 is a compact luxury car built with three- or five-door hatchback and two-door convertible bodies. 900 shares its platform with the Opel Vectra. It is the smallest Saab except for the short-lived model 9-2X, which was based on the Subaru Impreza base. This 900 has a conventional cross-mounted motor. The 900 model was later replaced by a 9-3 and although Saab claimed to have undergone "1100 upgrades", the new model remained virtually the same as the old one.
