The third-generation Legend appeared in 1996, continuing Honda’s tradition of front-wheel drive. The engine displacement was increased to 3.5 L with 215 hp. The car’s devices have been streamlined and used from previous versions. In the interior, it was possible to choose leather, Luxman top-quality sound system and other devices emphasizing luxury. This style was reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz cars. In 1998, an updated Legend was introduced with a new front grille tapering towards the front bumper. The Legend coupe was no longer produced in the US market, and another deluxe coupe, the Acura CL, was offered instead.
