The Honda HR-V is a mini SUV produced with 1.6-liter SOHC or 1.6-liter SOHC VTEC engines. The first models were produced with a three-door hatchback body with front or four-wheel drive. The 4WD version features Honda's Real Time system, which is characterized by the fact that it is normally a front-wheel drive car, and the all-wheel drive system is activated when the wheels slip. The HR-V is a small car that is perfect for families, and at the same time it has all the advantages of Honda - economy, comfort, quality handling and reliability.

Car description
I was looking for a city car that would be suitable for going fishing too. The cross-road ability satisfies me enough (which I didn’t expect at all). Gears can be shifted very smoothly and precisely. Due to power steering every turn or curve in the road doesn’t require big effort. But the chassis is rather solid. In the trunk there’s plenty of space to place a gas bottle instead of a spare wheel. I have a 45 L gas bottle but it’s possible to put bigger too. Vehicle’s weak spot – rear wheel arch edges (thin metal is used like for all Honda vehicles). I find interior design quite interesting though seats in light blue color wear out too quickly.
Performance
My Honda HR-V has a 1.6 engine. Although a lot of Honda owners complain about high fuel consumption, in my case it doesn’t consume much. In the city – approximately 25 mpg, on the highway – 35 mpg. Depending on the viscous coupling condition and if a rear axle is activated while driving, your fuel consumption can increase by +/- one third. First gear is rather slow meant to be used for off-road driving. I personally will never try to drive off the road in second gear in winter time and in the fields – this won’t bring any good to my car. I’ve noticed that the engine works at high revs 60 mph – 3000 rpm.
Reliability, running costs
Just like any other Japanese car, it can be praised for low running costs. So far I had to change only two slip rings of the generator armature and a brushgear.
Recommendations to buyers
My recommendation for you is to check first rear wheel arch edges and a rubber sealing gasket that goes around the entire windshield.
