The R-Class is an example of how Mercedes-Benz knows how to create new niche markets. This car is a combination of a SUV, a station wagon and even an SUV, in short, it is a multi-purpose vehicle. In fact, it is the first minivan (apart from the Vito, which is often used for commercial purposes) in the Mercedes-Benz range, although it does not have a sliding side door and has a rather strange front design. The R-Class is built on a V251 chassis and stands between M-Class and GL-Class SUVs in terms of price and is not a cheap car. The practical car is produced with an all-wheel drive system and two very long wheelbases (2980 mm and 3215 mm long) and is therefore produced with three rows of seats. In terms of body dimensions, the car is equivalent to a luxury sedan, but is much more spacious inside. Continuous all-wheel drive, electronically controlled 4ETS traction control in combination with ESP guarantee the highest level of driving safety and result in good driving on the R-Class, even in difficult road conditions. But despite all the benefits, the car’s sales weren’t what the silver star owners expected.
