When the French car manufacturer introduced the Renault Megane version of the Renault Scenic in 1996, customers appreciated such an innovation extremely well. It was one of the first compact MPVs, extremely practical, with more interior space than many large station wagons, while being economical as a compact hatchback. It was a "check and check" move by Renault, by the way, not the first such move in the company's history. What competitors could do was simply copy the French solution. Continuing from the second generation, the Renault Scenic became an exclusive Renault model and lost its connection with the Megane model, but remained both compact and practical. Times are changing - covid has come and gone, electric car technology has come and gone, and the fashion for crossovers has also arrived. Therefore, the Renault company decided to take a new strategy, which is called "let's turn all our models into crossovers". After all, statistics show the popularity of crossovers. And so they did - they turned the Megane into a crossover, the iconic Espace into a crossover, and added a whole host of other crossovers - Arkana, Austral, Captur, Kadjar and Koleos - to keep customers spoiled for choice. All of them differ very little from each other - both in terms of style, size and technology. How the buyer can choose between them remains an unsolvable riddle even for those of us who understand cars. There are almost no crossovers left in the company's range. We will see if this is a good decision, because even though crossovers are extremely popular, the competition here is huge, while the niche market of minivans can be occupied by competitors. So much for Renault Scenic positioning. Thus, the new Renault Scenic received an angular body with attractive design details such as dynamic LED headlights, a radiator grille filled with tiny Renault logo diamonds, recessed door handles, large plastic wheel arches and the same large wheels. Basically, despite losing its identity, the car looks attractive. The interior is a big step forward both in terms of quality and technology. Since Renault has promised that the car will be sustainable, it has created new seat covers made from recycled materials. Up front, the automaker has installed a pair of high-mounted seats, divided down the center by a tall center console with armrest and storage. A 12.3-inch instrument panel sits in front of the driver, complemented by a large vertical touchscreen on the right. Another important interior improvement is the panoramic roof. Although it cannot be opened, the driver can make it more or less transparent with the push of a button. Of course, the most significant change is under the Scenic's body, where Renault built the Scenic E-Tech electric motor with two battery packs on the CMF-EV platform. The base version has a 125 kW (168 hp) engine, while the more powerful one has a 160 kW (215 hp) engine with a larger battery.
