Honda Prelude, 1982 - 1987
The second-generation Honda Prelude was introduced with an A18 1.8-liter engine with 12 valves and a dual carburetor with an impressive 105 hp (77 kW). Later, a modern 2-liter DOHC 16-valve PGM-FI engine (JDM = BA1, EU = BA2) with a solid power of 137 hp (102 kW) was introduced. True, this great engine was not introduced in Europe until 1986. The most powerful version of the JDM had all 160 hp, which was really a lot of power for a car weighing just 1025 kg. This generation Prelude had retractable headlights to improve the car’s aerodynamics, although reversing such headlights on the contrary only worsens the aerodynamics. It was more of a tribute to fashion. The Honda Prelude's engine compartment has been designed to be extremely low, with the engine mounted transversely and slightly tilted, all to keep the height as low as possible and the hood to be mounted as low as possible.
