Jaguar XK-Series, 2006 - 2014
The completely new design of the XK has an aluminum frame and chassis. Contrary to common practice, the coupe car was designed on a convertible. Therefore, the convertible does not look like a "trimmed" coupe, but naturally. In addition, this means that a minimum additional weight is required to increase the stiffness after "cutting" the roof. This makes the XK extremely durable and lightweight for a car of this class. The new XK has introduced an innovative system to protect pedestrians in the event of a frontal collision. During a collision, a pedestrian often suffers serious injuries by deforming the hood and hitting his head in the engine block - this is prevented by the Jaguar hood, which rises slightly during the impact and provides extra distance to the engine itself.
