The third-generation Chevrolet Corvette was introduced in 1968 and was produced until 1982. As always with great design, the Corvette this time introduced a wavy-style body with heavily expressed wheel arches, a small cab, and Corvette-branded opening headlights and four taillights. The Chevrolet Corvette Coupe was first produced with a Targa-type roof with removable side roof sections. As before, the Corvette was produced in a convertible body. The C3 model’s engines and chassis components were moved from the older C2 model, but the body and interior were new. The main engine was 5.7 L, which replaced the old 5.36 L displacement, but the power remained the same - about 300 hp (224 kW). In 1969, impressive versions with side exhaust pipes were produced. In the same year, extremely rare versions of the ZL1 with a fully aluminum 7.0 L engine were also produced. This monster generated 430 hp (320 kW) of power, although it was easy to raise to 560 hp (420 kW). At the time, it was the most likely serial car ever produced in the world. Later, even more powerful versions with even larger 7.4 L engines were produced. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Chervolet has produced several exciting two-color versions, the Silver Anniversary Edition and the Indy Pace Car. The 1978 C3 Corvette was chosen as the Indianapolis 500 safety car, the first time the Corvette was used in the role of the most prestigious Indianapolis 500 racing safety car.
