Ford Mustang, 2023 - present
Ford presents the world's most popular sports coupe - the seventh generation Ford Mustang. At first glance, this Mustang looks like an upgrade from the sixth-generation model, with the same silhouette, the same side window line, front-end design and the same three-piece taillights. Small changes in the exterior design are intended to create a more dynamic impression - these are narrower LED headlights with integrated cornering lights, which are visually "pressed" by an aggressive hood, two vertical air intakes in the front grille in the GT version, more aggressively designed 19-inch light alloy wheels hiding Brembo brakes. In the rear part, the most noticeable are the classic-style lights, which have acquired a triangular shape. And although the car will not surprise you with its design, it looks right - as it should look like a sports car that continues the "musclecar" tradition and sells well. There are a few more changes in the interior of the Mustang - here the symmetrical design of the instrument panel with two protrusions, which was characteristic of all previous generations of Mustang, was abandoned. It is logical that now the dashboard will consist of screens, which of course take away individuality, but add modernity. The Mustang's dashboard consists of a 12.4-inch wide screen in front of the driver and an even larger 13.2-inch touchscreen in the central part that controls the Ford SYNC4 infotainment system. Removing the physical buttons for the audio system and climate control has made the dashboard cleaner and more digitized. Ford says the new car's cabin is the most driver-centric it's ever been, with a new, thicker steering wheel with a slightly flat bottom and sporty leather seats. But the most interesting thing is that the Ford Mustang remained traditional under the hood. There are several power plants hiding here - one is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost power plant, which is not very interesting to us, and the other is a good old 5-liter V8 "Coyote" engine without any unnecessary accessories - no additional electric power, no turbocharger, just the best-sounding American V8 engine. The new engine has decent power and torque - 480 hp and 500 Nm. In addition to the newly designed twin radiator grills at the front of the car, the Mustang V8 engine also has dual air intakes for each cylinder block separately. The new Mustang is also offered with either a six-speed Getrag manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic. Both gearboxes naturally send power to the rear wheels. On the road, the car behaves similarly to its predecessor - it is a very stable car despite its size and weight. But the new Mustang isn't something fundamentally new, so the improvements aren't dramatic, and the steering unfortunately remains as light and uninformative as before - far too light for a car without which the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger will now have to compete with the Toyota Supra or Nissan Z by cars. On the other hand, maybe it's a good thing that the Mustang has kept its unique character - although not the most sporty or the fastest, it is a rear tire-burning "musclecar" with great dynamics and a fantastic engine sound. In this day and age, when all cars are rapidly becoming the same and becoming as similar to each other as smartphones, this will be the advantage of the Mustang - perhaps this is the sales strategy of the Ford company.
