Every Volkswagen ID model that has been launched so far has been somewhat disappointing in terms of the quality of the interior materials and the quality and handling of the infotainment system. However, a similar German manufacturer heard the voices of customers and made appropriate decisions. Inside, the new Volkswagen ID.7 feels much higher quality than we've seen in other Volkswagen electric cars. The flagship of electric cars uses much more soft plastic, some interior details are trimmed with leather. The large, centrally-mounted 15-inch screen is a big step up from other ID models. It's responsive, the graphics look crisp and pleasing to the eye, and it's wide enough to accommodate the climate control buttons that sit at the bottom of the screen. It is true that the ID.7 model no longer has physical controls for the control of auxiliary systems and driving mode. They have been replaced by a row of icons at the top of the screen, which is not very convenient. In the car, you can additionally choose seats with a massage function and an electronically dimming panoramic sunroof, which until now could only be found in high-end cars. The new smart sunroof will be able to darken or become transparent with one touch. A small digital panel for the main readings is located on the instrument panel in front of the driver in a horizontal recess that runs the entire width of the car and goes on the sides on the doors where the door opening handles are located. The ambient lighting system is made up of four layers spanning the entire instrument panel. You can choose several layers of light diffusion and simultaneously have different colors of interior lighting, thus creating many lighting options. Stylistically, the interior design is extremely minimalistic with a clean look that is not overloaded with functions, even the adjustment of the air blowing direction is hidden and is controlled electronically. The interior certainly looks extremely stylish, but it will be interesting to see if the minimal number of physical controls will appeal to car owners. Space is the main advantage of the ID.7. The long wheelbase and short overhangs allow passengers to offer a particularly large amount of space in the cabin. Even when a tall driver sits down, there is plenty of legroom behind him. Despite the sloping roofline of the ID.7, there will be no shortage of headroom for the rear passengers. No wonder the car's interior is so spacious - at 4,961mm long, it's the largest ID car to date, even longer than the ID.Buzz minivan. The boot seems to be quite large too, with a lift-up floor and storage underneath for charging cables. The almost five-meter-long ID.7 is designed according to the principles of aerodynamics, thanks to which the coupe-like roof descends elegantly and allows to achieve a drag coefficient of even 0.23. As for the car's handling on the road, the suspension is soft and mostly grips the road surface well. Only when trying to overcome larger bumps in the road, a stronger tilt of the car is felt. The engine installed in the ID.7 produces 210 kW/286 hp. It is equipped regardless of the selected battery size. Depending on the size of the battery, the Volkswagen ID.7 will be able to cover up to 700 km on a single charge.
