The Volkswagen Polo is now in its fifth generation. The car is built on a Volkswagen PQ25 platform shared with the 2008 SEAT Ibiza. The design of the Polo is clearly similar to the new Volkswagen Scirocco and Golf VI. The new Polo is 36mm longer, 32mm wider and 13mm lower, 7.5% lighter than its predecessor. The luggage compartment has been increased from 10 liters to 280 liters (952 liters with folding rear seats). The car's engines are petrol from 1.2 L to 1.4 L, diesel 1.6 L. It is planned to sell the Polo in the North American market as well.
This generation Volkswagen Polo won the title of the best European car of 2010 by winning the Toyota iQ and Opel Astra models, as well as the titles of the best in the world and Slovenia. In the same year, this Polo was recognized as the best by What Car ?, Carsguide, and Wheels magazines.
In 2010/2011, the Polo was recognized as the best imported car in Japan.
