Volkswagen Tiguan, 2024 - present
There is no better indicator of how important the Tiguan model is to the Volkswagen company than the fact that more than 7.6 million Tiguans were sold in just two generations of this model. That is why the first generation Tiguan was produced for 10 years, and the second generation for 8 years - these are really very, very long periods of time for the production of one model. Thus, the appearance of the third generation Tiguan on the market is a serious event. The main "workhorse" of the new model is a strongly improved hybrid and plug-in hybrid drive, which offers a range of up to 100 km thanks to a larger 19.7 kWh battery. Tiguan produced on the new "MQB evo" platform can be equipped with various power plants - buyers can choose diesel (TDI), gasoline (TSI) engines with turbines, mild hybrids (eTSI), as well as plug-in hybrid power plants ("eHybrid"). Plug-in hybrids will only be available with dual-clutch automatic transmissions (DSG). There are two eHybrid specifications, both with the same battery and 113bhp electric motor, as well as a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine and six-speed automatic gearbox. You can choose between 201 HP/350 Nm or 268 HP/400 Nm power engines. The Tiguan eHybrid can also be charged with fast charging up to 50 kW, so charging from 10 to 80 percent will take just 25 minutes. VW will also offer mild hybrids with 1.5 L eTSI engines with 128 or 148 hp. If you want four-wheel drive, you'll have to go for the 2.0-liter unit. Both TSI turbo petrol engines have 4MOTION technology and produce 201 or 261 hp. The 190 hp 2.0-liter TDI engine also has four-wheel drive. The lower-powered 148 hp 2.0 TDI is front-wheel drive only. The appearance of the car can be said to be a harmonious combination of the previous generation Tiguan and Volkswagen ID.4. Nothing audacious or unexpected, just German deduction. Fuel consumption is improved by the new car's sleeker appearance - the drag coefficient has been reduced from 0.38 to 0.33. The solidity of the silhouette is emphasized by the lines running above the wheel arches, the most prominent design detail at the rear of the Tiguan is the now-bored single strip of LED lights used everywhere. All versions can be selected with the latest VW IQ.Light HD matrix LED lights. The new Tiguan is 30 mm longer than its predecessor, which gives it a bit more space inside. In terms of height, width and wheelbase, the car is almost the same as its predecessor. The trunk volume of the eTSI, TSI and TDI models has increased by 37 liters to 652 liters. In the cabin, the biggest update is VW's latest MIB4 infotainment system with a 12.9- or 15-inch screen and an all-new horizontally oriented panel design. A continuous climate control bar is visible on the central display, car users can select up to five on-screen hot buttons at the top of the screen for easy switching between functions. All cars feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster mounted in front of the driver with four different configurable views. Similar to Volkswagen ID. models, as well as the new Passat and Škoda Superb, the gearshift lever has been moved to the steering column. The center console features a new rotary dial with a display in the middle to select from a variety of "atmospheres" that control interior lighting, as well as chassis and engine drive settings.
