Lexus CT, 2010 - 2017

The Lexus family of cars will be joined by the smallest member - the hatchback CT200h. The CT series hybrid car is aimed specifically at the European market. For buyers, it will battle with the Audi A3, Volvo C30 and BMW 1 Series. The design of the car is seen somewhere - it is very reminiscent of the bigger brother IS, but it is more of an advantage than a reproach. The length of the five-door hatchback is 4320 mm, width - 1765 mm, height - 1430 mm. Lexus emphasizes a wheelbase of up to 2,600 mm, making it more space-hungry than most other models in the segment. The car is decorated with 17-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. Still, the tongue doesn’t turn a car into a beautiful one. Inside, the instrument panel does not show originality, and the quality of materials from Lexus could have been expected to be better. True, the devices are very comfortable to use and the seats are very comfortable. Luggage compartment modest - 375 liters. Both the design of the car and the technical units were developed from scratch. True, the recipe for a hybrid power plant has already been seen in the Prius model: petrol and electric engines work together, and with electric power alone it will only be able to travel a very short distance. This system, called Lexus Hybrid Drive, provides very good environmental performance. Buyers will be able to choose from three driving modes: economy, normal and sport. This less small hatchback will emit just 89 g / km of CO2 and consume an average of 3.8 liters of fuel. These indicators are available when Eco mode is enabled. When Sport mode is activated, the engine will reach 136 hp, accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.3 seconds and reach a maximum of 180 km / h. speed. Technical data: The 1.8-liter four-cylinder VVT-i engine develops 73 kW of power and 142 Nm of torque, and together with the electric motor, the power is 100 kW and 207 Nm, respectively. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a stepless E-CVT transmission. Lexus claims the CT 200h won’t be boring to drive, unlike most other hybrids. The manufacturer emphasizes the exclusive handling of the car, which should be ensured by a more complex suspension design than in Toyota models. However, even this is not entirely true: the hatchback behaves like most members of this class on the road and is not excited.
